Born and raised in Baltimore, I worked as a general dentist for many years with a particular interest in treating complications of the temporomandibular joint. It was at the Pankey Institute in Florida where I gained the advanced knowledge to treat the various problems found in this area of the body. I am a graduate of the Baltimore School of Massage, am certified to practice massage in the state of Maryland and also hold a national certification. I have studied traditional Chinese medicine and use acupressure and tuina in my practice. I am also certified in sports massage and work many of the local sport events. I have my Maryland and national certification in massage, I am a certified sports massage therapist and most recently received my 200 hour certification in Tuina, acupressure, Chinese medical theory from the Acupressure Institute, Berkeley, CA.
For each session of massage, I believe I can positively impact each client. For some, it may be a great stress relief or a much needed time to totally relax. For others, it may mean significant reductions of pain, better blood circulation, better respiratory function, increased range of motion, and more. And for some it will provide a form of psychological support they may not get otherwise.
I use a combination of styles and techniques including Swedish, deep tissue, myofascial, acupressure, and tuina- each delivered in a mindful and energetic manner. Many of the issues clients bring to the massage therapist result from long periods (often many years) of poor posture, compromised body mechanics, and /or lack of regular physical exercise. These problems that took long to develop usually, but not always, take several sessions of therapy to reverse. The more acute the problem, typically, the quicker the resolution. The first session will begin with a discussion of what you, the client hope to achieve followed by an assessment of the particular problems. We will decide together the best style of massage to use and will begin the massage at that time.

For 2 years I suffered with shoulder pain that prevented me from extending my arm to the side or behind me. It greatly interfered with my ability to sleep. After visits to an orthopedist and a referral to physical therapy did not resolve my pain at all, in desperation I thought I would try massage therapy. The therapist who happened to have been trained in China using tuina, worked on my shoulder for two, one hour sessions. Three days after the second session, all of my pain was gone. I decided that if massage could bring me relief, I would like to be able to do the same for others.
