We are pleased to announce this exciting service at “Holistic Health & Therapeutic Spa” – Breast Thermography by Medical Thermal Imaging.
On Saturday September 29th and continuing every 4th Saturday thereafter, “Holistic Health & Spa” will offer Thermal Assessments of the Breast as well as Other Parts of the Body. This will be done by Mary or Irv Nagle, Certified Clinical Thermographers.
"THERMOGRAPHY", also known as Medical "Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging"
(DITI) is a non-invasive diagnostic technique that allows the examiner to visualize and quantify changes in skin surface temperature. Thermography uses a passive infrared camera to detect and record the levels of infrared heat and inflammation that is given off by the body.
The ability to detect the heat and inflammation given off by the body is critical for the early detection of breast cancer – because, for damaged cells in your breast to grow and become a tumor they need a blood supply to stay alive. We can see the heat from that blood supply.
Breast Thermography is a technology that every woman should be using – because it is the only technology available that will REALLY DETECT BREAST CANCER AT A VERY EARLY “PRE-LUMP” STAGE ….. AND there is no radiation, compression or body contact
You should know that Breast Thermography has been approved by the FDA for breast screening since 1982.
You should know that in January 2003 the American Journal of Radiology published the results of a 4-year clinical study that showed Thermography to have 97 to 99% sensitivity in being able to determine if a particular lesion was benign or malignant.
Furthermore, you should know that Thermography's major clinical value is in its high sensitivity to pathology in the vascular, muscular, neural and skeletal systems and as such can contribute to the pathogenesis and diagnosis made by the clinician. In the case of breast tissue, it can see the heat from any blood feeding any existing or early stage tumors.
You should know that Thermography has been used for medical thermal imaging around the world for over 20 years. However, until recently, cumbersome equipment has hampered its diagnostic and economic viability. Current state of the art PC-based "digital infrared" technology with digital cameras designed specifically for clinical & medical applications has changed all this.
Since Breast Thermography can detect the blood supply that feeds a tumor in its infancy, it is extremely valuable in early detection of breast diseases.
Thermography is also an early stage detector of many other health concerns such as: Heart Disease and other Cardio-Vascular disorders, Diabetes, Lung Dysfunction, Isolate Back Problems, Arthritis, Auto Immune Diseases, Gum/Periodontal Disease, Sinus Infection, Internal Organ Pathologies and more.
Thermographic imaging is not covered by most insurance companies. However, we have reports of some people being fully or partially reimbursed under some Cigna Health Care plans, United Health Care Plans (UHC) one of which may be Optimum Choice Plus. However, please check with your plan administrator to see if CPT Code 93762 (Thermography, Peripheral) or ICD-9 code V76.19 (Breast Screening, other) is covered.
